Welcome to the Animal Agriculture Alliance (“Alliance,” “we,” “us,” “our”). The Alliance is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that brings together farmers, ranchers, veterinarians, animal feed companies, animal health companies, processors, allied associations and others involved in getting food from the farm to our forks!
The Alliance is committed to protecting your privacy. In this privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) we describe:
- How we collect, use, and share personal information through our website at https://animalagalliance.org and other Alliance websites that link to this privacy policy from their site (collectively, “Sites”).
- How we collect, use, and share personal information through or from registration for Alliance events (“Events”).
Your use of the Sites and/or provision of your personal information to us constitutes your consent to the use, storage, processing, and transfer of that information in accordance with the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the data practices described in the Privacy Policy, you should not use our website.
Information Collection
When visiting our Sites, you may voluntarily provide information about yourself, including your name, email address, phone number, title, company, and any other information you choose to provide. We collect this information when you contact us through our Sites or interact with us for any other purpose. We may collect additional information about you, such as information related to your farm, company or organization when you sign up to receive updates about or register online for our Events.
We also collect information about you when you attend our Events. Information you provide that we collect may include your name, contact information and whether you are a member. We collect such information when you register for our Events or participate in contests, raffles, and giveaways at our Events. If you choose to participate in Event surveys, we will also collect information about you that you provide in the course of the survey.
In addition, we collect information relating to your interactions with us and our Sites, including, but not limited to, browser type, IP address, pages visited and other activities on the Sites, device type, and time and date of visit, and other information we collect through the use of cookies and similar technology. See the “Digital Advertising and Analytics” section of the Privacy Policy to learn more about the use of this information and the choices available to you.
You should carefully consider whether you wish to submit personal data. You should also review any additional terms and conditions that may govern your use of our services.
Information Use
Unless otherwise restricted by law, we may use your personal information for any lawful purpose, including, but not limited to, the following:
- To respond to you regarding the reason you contacted us and your general inquiries;
- To send updates or notices about our organization and our Events;
- To contact you about issues we believe to be of interest to you;
- To operate and improve our services, including to provide better event experiences, products, and opportunities to Event attendees, agricultural professionals, and visitors to our Sites;
- To operate, personalize, and improve our Sites and Events, including for analytics and marketing purposes;
- To send surveys, promotions, and marketing materials that may be of interest to you;
- To comply with the law and to maintain the security of our Sites and Events;
- With your consent, or as otherwise disclosed at the time information is collected; and/or
- To administer and protect our business and Sites (including troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, system maintenance, support, reporting and hosting of data).
How we share your Email Address
You may receive email communications regarding upcoming programs or services that align with your expressed interests. However, the Alliance does not sell or rent your private email addresses to any third party. Neither does the Alliance share your private email address with third parties, except in certain circumstances for the purpose of conducting Alliance business or as required by law. No private email address that you provide will be shared with corporate sponsors, advertisers, member benefits providers, insurance providers or any third-party selling products and services on the Association’s behalf without prior consent.
How we use your Mobile Information
Upon messaging opt-in, you may receive informational SMS or text messages from the Alliance in order to achieve our normal business purposes. However, the Alliance does not use or share your mobile information for marketing/promotional purposes without prior consent. Further, no mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All the stated categories in this privacy policy exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
You can opt-out by replying STOP or ask for more information by replying HELP. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
Information Sharing
We may share your personal information we collect with other parties, including the following:
- With third party vendors who process data on our behalf, such as email service providers and event management and ticketing providers.
- With your consent or as otherwise disclosed at the time of data collection or sharing.
What are “cookies” and how does the Alliance use them?
The Alliance use “cookies” (defined below) and other technologies to analyze trends, administer the website, track users’ movements around the website, to gather demographic information about our user base and to collect information about your browsing habits to make advertising relevant to you and your interests (described below).
A cookie is a small text file containing a unique identification number that is transferred from a website to the hard drive of your computer. This unique number identifies your web browser to the Alliance’s computers whenever you visit Sites.
When you first visit the Site, you may be asked to consent to the use of cookies and similar technologies on the website in accordance with the Privacy Policy, and if you accept we will store cookies and similar technologies on your computer.
The use of cookies is an industry standard, and cookies are currently used on most major websites. Most web browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. Digital Advertising and Analytics
We may partner with advertising networks and other ad serving providers (“Advertising Providers”) that serve advertisements on behalf of us and others on non-affiliated platforms. Some of those advertisements may be personalized, meaning that they are intended to be relevant to you based on information Advertising Providers collect about your use of the sites and other sites or apps over time, including information about relationships among different browsers and devices. This type of advertising is known as “interest-based advertising.”
Third Party Links and Tools
Our sites may provide links to third-party websites or applications. We do not control the privacy practices of those websites or applications, and they are not covered by the Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy addresses only the use and disclosure of information we collect from you. Any information you disclose to a third party, such as other users or advertisers, is subject to that party’s privacy policy. Our Sites may also include integrated social media tools or “plug-ins,” such as social networking tools offered by third parties. Children’s Privacy
The Alliance and its’ materials are not directed towards children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 16. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided us with personal information, he or she should contact us at in**@**************ce.org. If the Alliance obtains knowledge that it has personal information about a child under 16 in retrievable form, the Alliance will immediately destroy that information and delete that information from its files.
Data Retention
We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in the Privacy Policy, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.
California Privacy Rights
In addition to the rights as explained in this Privacy Policy, under California’s “Shine the Light” law, California residents who provide personal information (as defined in the statute) to obtain products or services for personal, family, or household use are entitled to request and obtain from us, once a calendar year, information about the personal information we shared, if any, with other businesses for marketing uses. If applicable, this information would include the categories of personal information and the names and addresses of those businesses with which we shared such personal information for the immediate prior calendar year (e.g., requests made in the current year will receive information about the prior year). Your Choices and Updating Information
You may opt out of any future contacts from us at any time by adjusting your email preferences at the bottom of any Alliance email.
User ID and Password
Certain areas of the Sites require the use of a user ID, email address, and/or password as an additional security measure that helps protect your Personal Data. To help you protect your privacy, these Sites have tools to help you log in and log out. In order to help us with our efforts to protect your data, we ask that you select a complex password and that you refrain from using the same passwords across sites.
Security Measures to Protect Personal Data
We are committed to taking reasonable efforts to secure the information that you choose to provide us, and we use a variety of security procedures to help protect against unauthorized access to or alteration, disclosure, or destruction of personal data. We restrict access to personal data to our employees, contractors and service providers.
Unfortunately, no transmission of personal data over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100 percent secure. Accordingly, and despite our efforts, the Alliance cannot guarantee or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, or to or from our online services. Alliance has no responsibility or liability for the security of information transmitted via the Internet. Changes to Our Privacy Policy
The Privacy Policy may change from time to time. We reserve the right to amend the policy at any time and for any reason. Whenever we change our policy, we will let you know by posting updates to this webpage. Your continued use of the website and/or continued provision of personal data to us will be subject to the terms of the then-current Privacy Policy.
