Summit speakers to discuss positive marketing and engaging with unexpected allies for animal ag
Online registration open through May 6
April 23, 2019 – The Animal Ag Alliance’s 2019 Stakeholders Summit, themed A Seat At The Table and set for May 8-9 at the InterContinental at the Plaza Hotel in Kansas City, will discuss how to use positive marketing and engage with unexpected allies to help bridge the communication gap between farm and fork. Online registration for the event is available through May 6. To view the agenda and register, visit http://summit.animalagalliance.org.
The agriculture community is small (but mighty!) and many consumers are disconnected from modern production. Engaging with influencers and finding potential allies – even nontraditional ones – are essential to sharing positive information and correcting misconceptions. Wes Jamison, PhD, an associate professor and ordained minister with roots in the poultry industry, will share how he is working on a collaborative effort to connect with theological leaders about animal agriculture in a session titled “Engaging Unexpected Allies.”
Bill Gutrich, director of global food industry engagement at Elanco Animal Health, has worked in marketing for some of the world’s most recognizable brands, including Coca-Cola, McDonald’s and Samsung. He recently joined the animal agriculture world and has found himself surprised and even shocked at some of the ways that animal proteins have been and are being marketed. In the “Power of Positive Marketing” session, Gutrich will share a newcomer’s perspective on marketing in the animal protein industry and the opportunity to maintain proper segmentation of the brand story and consumer transparency communications.
