Animal Agriculture Alliance congratulates Perdue on new ag secretary role

January 19, 2017 – Today, the Animal Agriculture Alliance responded to President-elect Donald J. Trump’s announcement of former Georgia Governor George “Sonny” Perdue as the next U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary by offering its congratulations and support.

“The Alliance is excited to see someone with Governor Perdue’s considerable credentials appointed to this critically important position,” said Kay Johnson Smith, Alliance president and CEO. “Perdue’s experience as a veterinarian and deep roots in agriculture will serve him well as he provides leadership to USDA and engages with the industry. A thriving and prosperous agriculture industry is essential to the strength of our nation, and we are glad to see someone with an understanding of that taking the reins of the department.”
