Animal Agriculture Alliance Announces 2017 Stakeholders Summit

“Connect to Protect Animal Ag” will be event theme

December 1, 2016 – The Animal Agriculture Alliance announced today that its annual Stakeholders Summit, now in its 16th year, will return to Kansas City, Mo. for 2017. The event, themed “Connect to Protect Animal Ag,” will be held May 3-4 at the InterContinental Kansas City at the Plaza.

Building off the success of the 2016 event – the most highly-attended Summit yet – the 2017 Summit will focus on how all the diverse facets of animal agriculture can connect and come together to engage with key influencers and protect the future of our industry. The “Action, Please!” theme from last year’s event will be carried through as attendees hear from thought-provoking speakers, participate in engaging discussions and leave with actionable ideas that they can immediately implement on their farms or in their businesses.

“After hosting our largest Summit to date, we’re looking forward to another successful event in 2017,” said Kay Johnson Smith, Alliance president and CEO. “Our return to Kansas City will allow us to connect with a different audience and make our event more accessible to industry leaders and producers throughout the country. If you have a vested interest in the future of animal agriculture, you need to mark your calendar for this event.”

The Alliance first hosted its Summit in Kansas City in 2015, and is planning to alternate locations between there and the Washington, DC area each year. The Summit is a one-of-a-kind conference attended by a diverse group of decision makers, including representatives from farms, ranches, food processors, restaurants, grocery stores, legislatures, universities and government agencies.

“The 2016 Summit was one of the best conferences I have attended and I certainly look forward to 2017,” said Ron Birkenholz, director of communications, Iowa Pork Producers Association, who attended the Summit for the first time last year.
