Alliance to Host 13th Annual Stakeholders Summit
May Event to Focus on Millennials, Marketing & Food
February 10, 2014 – Early registration is now available for the Animal Agriculture Alliance’s 13th annual Stakeholders Summit, to be held May 8-9 in Crystal City, VA. This year, the Alliance’s showcase event will explore the theme of “Cracking the Millennial Code.”
The Summit is a one-of-a-kind conference that is attended by a diverse group of decision makers, including representatives from farms, ranches, food processors, restaurants, grocery stores, legislators, universities and government agencies. The Alliance welcomes Andy Vance, renowned agricultural journalist for Feedstuffs and active National Association of Farm Broadcasting (NAFB) member, as the 2014 Summit moderator.
While the 2013 Summit explored the role transparency and effective communications efforts play in countering misinformation spread by animal rights activists and other detractors, this year’s Summit will focus on the fastest growing demographic in the U.S.: millennials.
“At over 80 million strong, “generation y” will define the demand for meat, milk and eggs and will play a crucial role in producing food for a growing global population,” said Alliance President and CEO Kay Johnson Smith. “Moreover, as countless millennials embark on parenthood, they will become the largest influencers of America’s youth—our industry’s future consumers.”
Summit highlights will include:
- Panels on “Hot Issues” including: Sustainability, Antibiotics, and Farm Size;
- Expert Advice from Chefs, Restaurants, Retailers and trade media on Food Issues & Trends;
- Testimony from marketing gurus discussing how to effectively communicate and be transparent; and
- Reputation Management Advice and an interactive Crisis Management Simulation.
