This summer interning with the Animal Ag Alliance has been an invaluable experience. When I first decided agricultural communications was the career for me, my main goal was to help bridge the communication gap between farmers and the general public, and that is precisely what the team here at the Alliance is doing. They are incredibly passionate about the animal agriculture industry and have helped me to become a better communicator within this field.

My internship at Animal Ag Alliance was nothing short of growth, opportunity, and thrill. The pandemic had just recently begun, but we were still in the heat of everything related to animal agriculture including legislation and other hot topic issues. While the world came to a halt, the opposite can be said for the Alliance and this internship. Animal Agriculture Alliance means business for our industry, and I am so thankful I was able to be a part of it.

Interning with Animal Agriculture Alliance was a phenomenal experience. The team allowed me to grow confidently in the areas that I was interested in through their target initiatives and issues. I gained experience in legislative and media tracking, writing reports, blogs, press releases, social media management and so much more. As an intern, I felt genuinely valued as a team member. This experience made me more confident in my personal and professional skills and abilities. I highly recommend this opportunity to anyone passionate about animal agriculture.

I can confidently say my summer was full of learning and hands-on work for the Alliance. The opportunity to create social media and write blog posts, design infographics, attend virtual conferences, and write reports has taught me so much about the animal agriculture industry and my own working style. However, what truly made the summer so impactful was the Alliance team. I am proud to have worked with a team that has the same amount of passion for animal agriculture as I do. This summer was truly an unforgettable experience.

My time at the Alliance was not what I expected but I would not trade the experience for the world. The learning opportunities presented to me through this experience have been invaluable. The fast-paced work environment pushed me to use multiple skills and adjust quickly. The short time I spent with the Alliance taught me more about what animal agriculture faces than any other experience. I highly recommend this internship because you will grow professionally, academically, and socially. This was truly one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

The Animal Ag Alliance has provided me with the tools and connections necessary to be successful as a young professional in the agricultural sector. There is no limit to the experience gained as a communications intern! From legislative tracking and social media management to writing blogs and farm security resources, your contributions are highly valued by the Alliance and its members. I am beyond grateful for my time spent with the Alliance team and thankful that I am now transitioning to a role with a company that I connected with at the Alliance’s annual Stakeholders Summit!
