On January 14, 2010, the Humane Society of the United States announced that [yellow tail] would be donating $100,000 towards the group’s “[tails] for tails” initiative.
Many members of the agricultural community were upset when they heard of the impending partnership because of HSUS’ political and legal campaigns against food producers in the United States. In early February, hundreds of agriculture supporters used e-mail, Facebook, and Twitter to express their discontent.
The Alliance took an active part in the discussion, sending letters to [yellow tail] and encouraging the company to instead direct its donation to a true animal welfare organization.
