Ballot Issue 2 On Livestock Care Board

In November 2009, Ohioans will have the chance to vote on Issue 2, a constitutional amendment to create a board to establish standards of care and well-being for livestock and poultry. The standards will focus on best management for animal care and well-being, disease prevention, food safety, and food security. The board will consist of 13 Ohio residents, including farmers, food safety experts, veterinarians, a county humane society representative, and the Dean of the agriculture department of an Ohio college, among others.
